    Seal All Openings

Make sure that all of your windows are properly closed. If you notice any leaks, be sure to get some removable window caulk or plastic or at least stuff a towel or something in front. Check around the door frame and under the door for any drafts. You may want to get some weather stripping or a door sweep or again stuff a towel to block the way. Also, close off any rooms that you aren’t using. This will help reduce air circulation and keep things warm.

    Preserve the Sun

For windows that receive sunlight, you could use clear shower curtains or cover your windows with clear plastic sheets. This will help keep the cold air out and allow the warmth of the sun come in. Also, make sure as much as possible that nothing is blocking your home from receiving the sun such as plants or a shed etc. Move away any items leaning against the wall at the sunny part of your home.

    Keep Things Cozy

Time to take out those rugs or carpets you stored away during summer. Not only will these protect your feet but will actually help prevent heat loss through the floor acting as the perfect barrier. Also keep yourself cosy with slippers, socks, and a thick robe and indulge in all that fluffiness. Try to light up some candles as well. You’d be surprised how much warmth these can create and the smell is just, wow! Top off the night with a hot cuppa! Now that sounds like a good evening!

Technically you didn’t just move in but by inviting people over can warm up your home significantly. Even just by prepping for the get together will heat things up. Plus all that body heat will spike the temperature. Cooking and eating something nice and toasty with your loved ones sounds like a great excuse to warm up your home. Try doing some baking too! A hot oven and the smell of cookies or pie sounds amazing! Hanging out, eating cookies, drinking hot chocolate and everyone will forget about the weather outside.

Don’t forget to dress up warmly whenever you go out! Make sure everything is covered from head to toe to prevent any heat escaping from your body. Bonus: bring something warm to drink in a thermos to sip on throughout the day.
